A Fun Start To The New Year
2008 has arrived, and we have gotten off to a pretty good start.

(no, it isn't a REAL neon sign....but someday....)
We brought in the new year by going to "First Night" in Warrenton for a few hours. Then we headed back to the house for some fine karaoke and to watch the ball fall.

This has set us up for a great 2008.
We had a small snowstorm the other day, and Alex took Diesel out to play in it. Since he (Diesel, not Alex) was born last July, he has never experienced snow before. This led to him getting what we affectionately refer to as "the ZOOMIES". He runs like crazy, most of the time following the same route in a circle. After a few laps, he lies down and barks at nothing. He's a little on the weird side, sometimes.

Sir Diesel has really become an integral part of the family. There hasn't been one day where he hasn't made us laugh. You can have a bad day and when you get home, he will do something that will crack you up. And he loves attention. If you are doing something non-Diesel related, he will not hesitate to let you know that this is HIS world, and we merely live in it.

January also means it is time for the Pinewood Derby race for Scouts. This year is Alex' fourth time, and will be a first for Trent. We spent yesterday working on the cars. We cut the wood a week or so ago, and yesterday was spent sanding, painting, putting stickers on and getting wheels on the cars.
Trent really benefited from Alex' knowledge on Pinewood car building.

The finished products are great! I think this is Alex' best car ever, and Trent built an awesome first-time car, too.

The race is next weekend. We have a very good chance of winning.
I have no explanation for this picture, but included it for your enjoyment. If you have a caption for it, don't hesitate to comment on the blog.

Last night we had some post-Pinewood Derby Car Building karaoke, complete with dancing.

And then Trent fell asleep............

Speaking of Trent, this afternoon he decided he wanted a haircut. Not just any haircut, he wanted his head shaved.
It went something like this...........

Now THAT is a squared away haircut! And he likes it, which is a good thing, 'cause there is no turning back.
I have also added a bunch of new pictures to the photo section of Dave and Karrie.com. Feel free to stop by and peruse the photos, friends. You can find the new pictures here. Or, for a special treat, go HERE. It is a new feature from Go Daddy called "montage". It is a slideshow with music. Pretty neat. I just discovered it myself. Enjoy !
Take care, gentle reader. And as always..............stay tuned!

Whoa, Trent looks like a young me. *Much* younger and somewhat better looking.
Here's to a rocking 2008!
